Default WH stopping after a few seconds.

WH has been sitting around for a while at my fathers place and when he went to start it noticed the battery was flat. Battery removed and charged but now the Jeep starts and runs for a few seconds and then stops again. I have read this on here before but can't find it now. I haven't been out to put code reader on yet. Could it be a key fob battery or do I need to enter a code somewhere?

Had this happen to me. Jeep assist told me to tap the key 7 times on the ground. Don't know why , but it worked for me. Alternatively have you got the spare key.

On the WJ, the idle has to be reset by

1. Start the engine
2. one foot gas pedal constant rev around 1000rpm,
3. the other foot on brakes to then shift the gear lever to N, back to P
4. Repeat once.

See if putting the key into the ignition and turning it to the run position without stating, then press the lock on the key fob then the unlock.
This should help the the computer recognize the key.
