So just got off the phone with ARB Melbourne trying to ascertain the at rest position for the shocks to see if they will work with my vehicle only to be told that they won't give that information out. I asked him how can I see if they will work if I don't have the info he said take it to a local arb centre. I told him I have and they couldn't give me the info I wanted. I asked why it was a secret as I can get that info on other brands.he said that's just how it is !! What a cock head!!!

That's on the borderline of absurd...... or ignorant...... or arrogant.....

As anyone who understands how a bypass shock works knows, its vital to get the "at ride height" shaft extension correct in order for the bypass system to operate as designed.

Certainly makes you question a purchase if that sort of REQUIRED info is secret.

Fox certainly provide it... "for optimal performance of your new internal bypass shock, FOX recommends at ride height that there be between 5.50" and 7.75" of shaft extension". - see ARB that wasn't hard was it ?

Maybe it's because the recommended height is above what would be legal on a vehicle in Australia without engineering? Can't think of any other logical reason.

Chris, you're right. I was talking to someone at arb earlier this week. That's more or less where we're up to. They have the 2 inches one ready but the ride height is exactly at border line. So, not all 2~2.5 inch lift can fit it. With or without engineering. I'll be getting a set for mine.

Was fairly worked up over it so rang local store and unloaded, he agreed that it was ridiculous and asked me to put my request in an email and he forwarded it to someone he trusts at arb tech they emailed back said I'd have my answer next week. It shouldn't be this hard to buy a local product !!!

Doesn't add up..... the open and closed lengths which are available give that away..... even to relative newcomers and without the complexities of understand the ride height significance of a bypass shock. I'd suggest the "engineer" simply didn't know what he was being asked about and rather than admit it just tried to BS his way out of it.

Obviously not an issue unless your attempting to answer a question from a customer who knows what they are talking about
