Default Kiwi travels in 2012 WK Overland

Purchased a 2012 GC overland diesel in NZ to travel around NZ .Just passed 9500ks in two and a half months in both North and South Islands.Plenty of WKs on the roads not many WHs.Had to get the disc rotors skimmed and new pads ,plus put on a set of Wrangler ATs which were cheaper than in Aust.Main roads in North Island were falling apart with melting tar.South Island has great roads and some stunning off road locations visited.Gravel roads are very dusty.Diesel prices ranged from 1.15 to 1.67 per litre plus diesel road user charge of aprox $350.00 per 5000 ks.Rego was around $170.00 ,comprehensive insurance was much cheaper.Good Jeep wrecker in Christchurch ,HiTec parts will send to Aust ,with plenty of WK and WH bits if needed.Accomodation needs to be booked in advance ,especially in South Island ,huge number of tourists in motor homes ,rental cars etc.Chinese are causing problems and killing people driving on the wrong side of the road.!Will be leaving GC undercover in Christchurch and return to do a bit of house sitting in June in Wanaka ,will be cold, but stunning location.Glad we escaped the heat in Aust.

Nice wrap mate, some interesting stats there. Chinese visitors are gradually culling Victoria's population on the Great Ocean Road in the same way, it's a real worry.
