We have been looking into upgrading the forum software for some time. We needed something that has a better user interface, runs faster and has extra features.

PHPbb has been used by many other forums on the net and we are now researching how to convert all the database info from this forum to the new format.

Below is a link to a DEMO of the new forum software, obviously all the colours and banners havnt been updated on it yet as we are only looking at the more important issues of functionality. We would like some users to go to the NEW DEMO and have a look around. If you are a member of this forum and registered before 18th June your membership will be current on this DEMO.

One main thing that will be lost when the change over takes place is all your saved PM's. We are looking into how this may be able to be fixed.

You will be updated closer to the time when the change over will take place.

"daveaus" has posted a thread in the Open Discussion of the DEMO for all you Beta testers to post any information about issues.

Your help in developing AUSJEEPOFFROAD to the next level is appreciated.

Any threads posted on the DEMO will be lost as the DEMO is ONLY a TESTING SITE.

Please give us feed back.

I like it a lot.

My only comments are that I like having the who is online section on top so I can see who has signed up.

Also would we lose the who is actually online functionality that we have now? It is quite good to see the names of people online.

it shows you down the bottom of the new one who is logged in.

also we have found that people will have to go into their profiles and set their own time zone as it doesnt work the same as the old one. also their avatars will need to be reset also.

One other thing Jimmy is you might want to look at getting an alphabetical list of all of the users so if we do want to go and PM someone we dont have to go and find one of their old posts to find them.
I know we get new people on here all the time so maby update the list every month or so.
I dont really know **** about computers so if this is an unreasonable ask just tell me to [img]graemlins/soapbox.gif[/img] off.

other benefits include a much more user friendly PM interface where you have specific mailboxes, can search for users in the database when you send a PM (buddha will like this).

Think I found a bug - If you reply with a quote - it says "You cannot make another post so soon after your last, please try again in a short while"....hmmm was my first post....tested again & failed...
