We just had our uconnect replaced on our March 2015 Limited, all covered by FCA. Was just out of warranty when we first contacted them, but they were very helpful, even offered us a courtesy car, and replaced it for free ($6000 worth they said). Gotta say I was pleasantly surprised..
Oops - yes that's Oct 14 (MY15) - but we bought it in April 2015..

Oh dammit - I knew I should have asked on here about it all...

We're largely at the mercy of our local Stealership - who of course implied that we were very lucky getting the terms we did - tho with that kind of definite info I would probably have contacted FCA directly about it.

The defect was "internal electrical fault (loss of communication)" - which sounds like another dodgy (mexican made?) wiring issue. Hopefully the replacement unit is an updated version.

Further thought on this is that evidently different dealers approach warranty support in different ways - ie. decent operators vs sleazy twerps: it's been pointed out to me that FCA prolly would have paid less labor cost to the dealer for full warranty repair than the $600 we paid. It's a bit disturbing to think that such conflict of interest might exist in a way that essentially works against the dealer batting on our behalf for best coverage from the manufacturer. Its something for prospective buyers to be aware of - ie. ask some direct questions about that aspect of their coverage.

In future, after initial fault identification / confirmation by our STEALERSHIP I'm going to try to cut them out of the process as much as possible and communicate directly with FCA. That's a really shitty situation to be in. Only consolation is that we've managed to talk two people we know into NOT purchasing their new cars from this dealer...

As a point of reference, the same component on my vehicle was replaced at around 50,000km for a far more minor issue, at FCA’s cost, and they threw in an extra year of warranty and a free service as a goodwill gesture.

Oh well, fingers crossed. I bought a 2014 TH yesterday, build date September 2014, MY 15 with 78,000 kms. Overall condition is excellent, looks like new and no indication that it had a hard life. I took it for a short test drive and apart from a very sensitive accelerator it behaved perfectly. I take delivery on Monday and time will tell.

Proof of the pudding will be next weekend when I go for an extended fishing trip.
