The annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show is less than one week away, and we’re already seeing a trickle of concepts from the OEMs released. However, some are holding back from giving everything away until the actual show.
As usual, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ (FCA) Mopar parts and accessories division is going to have a major presence at the show and has given us a sneak peek at what might be coming. Based on the shadowy sketches the company has released, this year’s concepts will include a Chrysler Pacifica minivan, a Dodge Durango, Dodge Challenger, a customized Jeep Wrangler with what looks like a CJ nose, and a Ram 2500 Power Wagon with some sort of rear hoop over the bed.
No specific details were given on any of the concept vehicles. If we had to guess, at least one of them is going to have a version of the Hellcat supercharged 6.2L V-8, possibly more than one. The SEMA Show is also typically a showcase for newly released or currently available Mopar dealer-installed accessories. You can watch the livestream at this link starting 4:26 p.m. Pacific time, 7:26 Eastern on November 1 to watch the Mopar press conference and see the live reveal.
SEMA Cares was founded in 2007 by the SEMA board of directors to coordinate efforts among SEMA members to make a positive difference in communities across the country through outreach programs and fundraising efforts. The SEMA Cares Wrangler will be displayed in the Grand Lobby of the 2016 SEMA Show from November 1-4.
Jeep accessory manufacturer Omix-ADA is partnering with SEMA Cares, the charitable arm of the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) for the fourth time in building and displaying a Jeep Wrangler at the 2016 SEMA Show in Las Vegas. Last year’s Wrangler auctioned for $100,000 at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. This year’s Wrangler was built by Petty’s Garage in North Carolina, founded by NASCAR race legend Richard Petty.
The build showcases Omix-ADA’s line of Rugged Ridge accessories for the JK Wrangler, some of which will be seen for the first time at the show. Proceeds from the auction of this year’s featured Jeep will go to Victory Junction, a camp for children with chronic and serious illnesses, founded in memory of Adam Petty, Richard Petty’s grandson, who was killed in a race accident in 2000. Adam’s stated dream was to build a camp for children.
