Default Leaked photos on 2018 Jeep Compass

Leaked photos on 2018 Jeep Compass Jeep's new SUV to sit between the Renegade and Cherokee has been outed. A handful of photos on Saturday surfaced on Autoo (via World Car Fans) after the compact SUV was spotted in an official photo shoot at a location in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The debut is meant to take place later this year at a special ceremony at Jeep’s plant in Pernambuco, Brazil, where it will be built. It's likely we'll see it for the first time on local soil at November's 2016 Los Angeles auto show.

Jeep CEO Mike Manley has stated that the company would stick with either Compass or Patriot for the name of the compact SUV, and that Compass was the preferred option as it was more familiar to buyers around the globe.

The photos confirm Compass is the chosen name as it is plastered on the flanks of the vehicle in the photos. The photos also reveal familiar Jeep styling cues combined with some modern touches such as the floating roof.

Underpinning the vehicle is a stretched version of the platform found in the Renegade, known within Fiat Chrysler Automobiles [NYSE:FCAU] as Small-Wide. Inline-4 engines will feature across the range, with the primary unit expected to be a new turbocharged 2.0-liter.

Expect 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic options in the transmission department. Front-wheel drive will be standard with all-wheel drive remaining an option.

Since Jeep has already announced a version of the outgoing Compass for the 2017 model year, we’ll likely see the new model arrive as a 2018.
