Default (Got Canaries) Transfer case front drive shaft sqeal pleas help

Gday Guys

Got a question. Started to have a really annoying squealing noise (sounds like a canary chirping) under the front of the jeep

Upon inspection jacking and removing the wheels found it to be inside the transfer case near the front driveshaft. When you manauly turn the front driveshaft it squeaks once per turn.

Driving it it gets quicker and then sometime stops.

I assume something is rubbing inside the transfer case but buggered if I know how to fix it.

1994 XJ cherokee sports

Any Ideas

Most likely the dual cardan joint on the front driveshaft and not the tcase, they dry out and squeak just like you describe. Pull it out, replace the uni and possible the ball centering unit if dry and damaged, and the squeak will go

Cheers
Steve

I with Steve and it will be the driveshaft.
Remove it and check the condition under the rubber shield of the centering ball.

It will be the double cardan dry.

If caught in time you can strip, grease the dry rollers and it should be OK.

I did this as a temporary fix as could not get parts quick enough - has been OK for a year now
