I'm sure the fuel figures will still look a little average thanks to the lack of aero dynamics, rolling resistence etc but yes surely it would be a reasonable improvement over the AMC 4L....

With that said a worked ford 4L Turbo would be the business! Though I'd expect it would be death to the TJ's drivetrain & or the person trying to control it.

Cheers,
B.

Courtesy of www.offroaders.com:
Bore x Stroke: 3.88" x 3.41"
Horsepower: 180hp @ 4750 RPM
Torque: 220 lb-ft @ 4000 RPM

Courtesy of http://www.ford-wiki.com/wiki/Ford_Barra_engine:
For the BA Falcon:
Bore x Stroke: 3.6" x 3.9"
Horsepower: 244hp @ 5000 RPM
Torque: 280 lb-ft @ 3250 RPM

For the FG Falcon:
Bore x Stroke are both the same
Horsepower: 261hp @ 6000 RPM
Torque: 288 lb-ft @ 3250 RPM

Just for you, Bandit
Barra 310T FG puts out 416 hp @ 5250 RPM, and 417 lb-ft @ 1950-5200 RPM. My prediction: Lots of speed and stuff breaking!

That's what you would want 4l turbo, more power and nm than ls1 and easy to get a lot more.
