Default Swirl motor quote

Hey guys,

Got the bad news a few hours ago from the local Jeep dealer that i've cooked my swirl motor...so he's said that i need a new turbo hose, swirl motor and 6 glow plugs (only 4 are blown but he said get all 6 done) and all the other bits and pieces that are needed for this. He seems to be a very nice guy and very helpful, he has quoted me $3367 for all of the above parts and the labour and GST inclusive for all the work. What does this sound like to you guys?? Pleaseee let me know what you think!

Cheers guys.

Buy the hose, fit it yourself. Spend $2.00 and put the wiring shunt in to disconnect the swirl motor and leave it. Then if you can't do it get your dealer to do the glow plugs and save yourself a heap of money. The swirl motor is not necessary and some people have had a couple die. All the 3l V6 diesels have this problem.

I think it's a rip off at that price. I can also be very nice if I could squeeze so much out of my customers but my ethics say it's a no, no.

As Fester said, just do a search, there's plenty on the swirl motor issue and save yourself most of that quoted money.

Honestly that price is not too bad for all that, but just don't bother with the Swirl Motor , just bypass it. Get the glow plugs if it seems to take more cranking over that what it used to do first thing in the morning , more so if you live down south in the cold.

I've bypassed the SM and only have 2 working GPs but it starts straight away after being idle for a week.

The lack of a swirl motor has negligible effect on anything. The bypass is here derived from a lot of Mercedes trial and it works without issue and is not detectable. You just disconnect the wiring from the motor and it parks in the default open setting. The wiring mod fools the ECU into thinking it is still working so all good. Even if you aren't capable of some basic wiring you could get the instructions off here and if an Autoleccy charged more than $100 he'd be ripping you blind. Even $100 would be extreme. The parts ate seriously like $2.00 and there is only 3 wires involved.
