Default 2.8L CRD wiring harness

Hi Guys,

I've just bought my first diesel JKU. I took it to a dealership for a look over. The guys tell me the wiring in the engine bay is a mess - looks like previous owner had after market stuff and ripped it out before sale, also the insulation is buggered everywhere. Everything seems to be working as it should though.

Is there a wiring kit replacement for this? Out with the old in with the new, or would it be a generic type of kit or do I just tape it all up and forget about it?

Have the same sort of issue in my 09 JKU. A lot of bare wire that I keep finding.

I am sure there are people much more knowledgeable than I am that will chime in, but I would maybe try to replace the worst first. Replacing it all in one swell foop I would worry if something goes wrong your first place to look would be, well, everywhere.

If you find it's too expensive to replace the whole loom, then I suggest buying some vulcanising tape (also known as Self-amalgamating tape) to cover the wires then go over it with electrical tape and then some split cable loom.

Doing it that way will give you a far better water tight and insulated repair then just wrapping it in a bit of electrical tape.

You took it to a dealership for a kid to look over it?
You are getting to be in a world of hurt if you keep bringing it back to a dealership. Take it to a jeep specialist
