Had mine tested only last year (6 years old), still going well.

I’ve disconnected it a few times over the years for various reasons and never thought to use a memory saver

My original Chrysler battery lasted exactly 5 years. Old out, new in, no memory saver used and nothing needed resetting.

Being an AGM you should be good for around 8 years but while they last longer than the old wet jobs its still a " How long is a piece of string question ", depends on how its been worked but 6-8 should be good and if not flogged even 10 years..............

Change your battery and lower the load on your alternator.

Every blown alternator i've seen has been on an old battery.

Could be coincidence, but it checks out.

I was told something similar to that by an RACV mechanic. It was he who suggested keeping a close eye on the alternator after the battery was replaced. After a while I changed the alternator rather than risk becoming a victim of it while out in the sticks with van in tow. I'll now be changing the battery before it shows symptoms, cheaper than new alternators.
The wife's battery gave up couple of months ago after 6 yrs and 1 month. We don't have everything electrical running either, by habit most things are turned off until needed, although her car does a lot of short distance running.

I think the alternator is getting flogged more by the power steering than charging a battery though if you are using the battery when shut down a lot ie; fridges, sound systems etc then when you start up again the charging will be longer and harder than normal and add all the power systems when running makes for a lot of work for a battery and charging unit................more so on a wet, cold day or night time ........... every extra electronic gadget added comes at a cost.
I can only imagine the extra flogging the batteries/alternator get with the stop/start system in some .....
