Even though the ST Maxx have an aggressive side wall, I don't think a road tyre would fit either.
Would 265/65/18 fit ok?

I believe so yes but hopefully someone else will be able to confirm that for you.

For reference, a 255/70r18 tyre which is the same diameter as a 275/65r18 tyre does fit in the spare wheel well.

Also to the above poster, a 265/65r18 fits in there fine.

For anyone who wants the Bridgestone DUELER H/T 840 255/70r18 spare that I had in my Grand Cherokee for 5 years doing nothing (made in 2014, still has the wax coating on it / mould nubs, never touched the road), I have the tyre only which I had removed in-case someone else wants it to use as a spare.

PM me, you can have it for the money that I spent swapping it over $25.

True but the import fees and change over from USD would make it cost prohibitive.

When i bought my 2014 grand cherokee limited the previous owner had at set of
20” off road tyres. When i first took it for a test drive the road noise was terrible.
Dealer changed the tyres and rims to 18” road tyres and it was like a totally different car.
Dont know how people can drive around the city with off road tyres with that sort of road noise.
Hence i think the idea of having another set of off road tyres and rims ready to swap is a good one.

Hi Gazz1958. Yes I changed from 20 inch rims to 18 inch Lorado rims with a set of Yokohama Geo Landers at same size you stated. Had about 90% tread on them. I have to say I was not very impressed at all. They were very noisy and wear was a bit quick for my liking.

I swapped my 20 inch Limited rims for 18 inch Laredo rims with Cooper AT3’s 265/60 R18. (I have been very surprised and happy with them. They did rub inside guard slightly at standard height, however I have since put in the Murchison 2-2.5 inch suspension lift which I have also been very happy with. The ride is stable and very similar to factory. No rubbing and an even 2.25in lift all round.
The mileage and performance is far better than the last two sets of AT’s which were Yokohama Geolanders (very noisy) and Kumho all terrains which only lasted 35000. My Cooper AT3’s are currently on 55,000 k’s and still have plenty of tread so I suspect at least another 20,000km.
Have had on fire trails, a little bit of mud and plenty of sand. They always seemed to have a more aggressive tread pattern for an AT which I like. Cannot complain about them at all.
