Default Oil Filter??

Does anyone know of where to get an oil filter for an 08 JK unlimited Petrol engine???

I have tried Supercheap Auto & Autobarn with no luck. I tried the dealer but the parts department was closed. They will probably charge an arm & a leg too!

Thanks
Karl

I bought 2 from autobahn for $10 - $12 each. One is Ryco #Z418 and the other a cheaper Cooper brand (made by the same company) but that is interchangeable with this one. These are marked as Toyota filters but they are interchangeable with the jeep unit and $20 each cheaper. Autobahn and the other outlets should have a compatability/swap chart that you can consult. You could also comfortably fit a slightly longer filter (#Z418A). The last time I bought a Jeep one it cost $36. You do not need to change oil more often than 12000 kms as recommended. It pays to use good quality oil, though. I Use Nulon 100% synthetic 10/30. Dealers use Magnatech or Mobil 1 and charge 2-3 times the going price for it. Nulon is still cheaper than their rip off prices and it's a better oil. I don't take my Rubicon to Jeep dealers because I think they are blatant rip off merchants. I also have got sick of their petty excuses as to why I am wrong and they are right. Bullshit artists, every one of them!!!

Cheers

I now have 4000km on the clock, and just dont like the fact i have to wait till 12k to get a service and oil change on a new engine!
I bought some Castrol Synthetic oil, 5w30, that is the top of their range. I used to use Mobil 1, but that only comes in 10w50!

Thanks for the numbers wallaby...i will go and get one today. Their charts only went up to a TJ...no numbers or conversion chart for the JK!

I know where you are coming from. I changed my oil at 5000km and then 12000 thereafter. 10/30 oil is fine, its a bit cheaper than the 5/-- which refers to the cold start temp. --/50 might be a bit thick.
