Default starter motor needed

Gday all

The XJ starter has started playing up, occasionally the solenoid sticks & needs a tap to get it firing over again.

I'm in Ballarat & work in Geeleong so does anyone in these areas have a spare starter? Outside of these areas I reckon the weight of the starter will cause the postage to be a minimum of $98745

Cheers Dave

Can you clean/fix it up a bit?
Just asking because I'm going to have a look at mine soon. My solenoid sometimes doesn't throw out as well as it should and the starter just spins like a turbine. When my battery was buggered the starter still turned, but the solenoid didn't throw all the way and it just chattered it's teeth half heartedly trying to engage. That's why I wonder if it's just suffering a little voltage drop somewhere.

Take it off, take it to an Auto Elec, and they can rebuild it for under 100 bucks. then when its back in it sounds like a damm jet engine turning the motor over..

The solenoid isnt allowing the starter drive to kick out/spin over at all. Its needs a new solenoid/starter/rebuild.
