Red face Cargo barrier

Does anyone have any experience with the fitting of cargo barriers to 2000 XJ's? ilford make one for the SPORTS, but not for the CLASSIC. They can't tell me why. Does anybody know why you can't legitimately fit a SPORTS model to a Classic? Are their wires or aircon lines that run along the connection points? My theory is that the cd stacker my have caused problems, but not enough for the to exempt the CLASSIC outright. Would appreciate other theories.

AusieXJ,
I have fitted an aftermarket one to my 1998 Sport. I bought the barrier from 4WD Systems. Very easy to fit - just two drill holes through each wheel arch for bolts. I would ring them and ask if they do one for your vehicle. Much cheaper than the Milford barrier if you can get one to fit (I think mine was under $300 including postage to Canberra).

Hope this helps,

Rick

I have a milford in my diesel (so not classic or sports) and yes the only issue was the CD stacker. My TJM store got one in to check that it fitted before I bought it (jolly good of them) I have relocated it onto the barrier itself. just got to get rid of the crpa stacker and get something decent now )

Slightly off topic but are any of these barriers easy remove or are they a fairly permanent thing?

I need to take it out for the majority of the time so can get my mountain bikes in the back but definitely like the idea of having a barrier when touring.

Cheers,
HB

no issues with fitting them, except if you have a stacker. they are easy to remove, but i wouldn't want to be doing it every weekend. takes about 10 minutes to put it out
