Finally moved my UHF from the floor to above the rear mirror. I was always worried about it there in case I ever flooded the cabin.

The Rugged Ridge CB mount did the trick and it's very easy to install.

I thought I'd adjust the hand brake over the weekend as it hasn't been holding lately.

Cleaned inside the rotor hub as it was pretty rusty looking from all the sand.

Adjusted the star wheel until it locked up, backed it off so there was still resistance all the way around. The handbrake lever only came up about 4 clicks all good so I put everything back together.

Backed up my driveway, Applied the handbrake, foot on clutch.....

And rolled back down into the carport.

I think I'm going to have to replace the rear rotors. The one thing I noticed was that whoever has adjusted it previously (I asked a dealer to do it when I first got it serviced) must of had the handbrake dragging something fierce as it has worn a fair groove in the hub. So much so, I think I may not be able to adjust it enough to really grip it with the shoes.

So it looks like new rotors in the near future so I may as well change the brake pads as well.

Age will wear that in, even without misadjustment. Mine is pretty much the same, with a rusty lip when you remove the drum.

Getting it to hold, when it engages with 4 clicks is just a matter of pulling a couple more clicks... Been there, done that after adjusting mine. It's just a matter of how much friction there is between the linings & the drum. You can also try roughing up the linings & drum a bit with some 120 or 240 wet and dry.

I tried pulling it a couple more clicks but no joy. I might have backed them off a little further than thought.

Due to the rust I think one of the drivers side shoes aren't moving feely which certainly wouldn't help. I also used a penetrene type cleaner so I'm wondering if it's made the hand brake shoes a little slippery so they aren't gripping as well as they should.

The groove is very pronounced considering it's only done 62K.

I was originally going to buy the Teraflex large rotor kit that SBR sell but I'm leaning more towards some slotted DBA rotors front and rear with some decent pads to help when towing.

Ah, could be, then. I recently replaced the linings, but I had over 130,000km on it then. As for the penetrene... at least they won't squeek!

Next time you feel like pulling the wheels off, I'd have a go at cleaning the drums & linings with petrol to make sure there isn't any left. I can't find the pics I took, but mine were down to ~0.5mm at one end when I replaced them.

I'll be buying some brake cleaner next time

That'll work too!

Today was like Christmas! Installed some new foglights. e-Bay JWS lookalike.

Then while I was installing them, the courier arrived with the new Bestop Trektop Glide from DBOR! So that went on too! 4 hours, including a trip to take daughter to dance class and reworking the Poly Performance front grab handles, that were a bit in the way.

Pics in a day or so. Tomorrow is the Happy Day! I have a booking to get my passenger side Claymore mine removed! They say it's only likely to be an issue if it has been exposed to excess moisture...
