I was reading up on this recently and apparently the early ones are like this, the later they put the bolt the other way round so it could be removed.

In reading the ways of removing it, there were 2 answers, disconnect and drop the exhaust enough to remove it, or 2, cut it off and replace from the other side.

Not enough room on the petrols, easiest & quickest way to remove is to cut it off & fit a new one, to much hassle to drop the exhaust

i'll try a bit more swearing and then i will try loosening bolts around manifold to see if this gives me a little flex in the exhaust and last resort i will cut

I have tried levering it by myself and trying to remove the bolt at the same time (maybe i need someone else to assist). Any thoughts on this most welcome and i am not yet at the stage of grinding it off and i guess i still have the journey of putting the bolt back in afterwards too
I had this with the Diesel as well, go and buy a new bolt for a few buck and cut the old one off. Quicker and easier, When putting it back together put the bolt in from the outside, easy peasy. The savings of time and effort far outweigh the cost of the bolt.

Bolt is:BOLT, Hex Flange Head, M12X1.50X80.00, UCA to Frame or Axle, Mounting.

Good luck, oh and a ratchet strap if good for re-aligning the bolt holes, when putting it back together.
