Well at least I get another shot at torquing these right the first time... I guess that's a silver lining, right?

Right now I think my XJ just wants to me...
Did you use new bolts?
I have re-tensioned my heads 2x since I had mine off. Its starting to get to be a concern how much they have been tightened.
how long is the broken off bit? That will give you a hint as to if you will have much to grab to undo it. If you have used anti seize on the threads, you will be surprised how easy they come out.

Yes the bolts were new, and I'm not sure how long the broken bit is... I used an anti-seize grease initially. I am just wondering how it got so bad... The opposite bolt was torqued well higher and it didn't break.... Perhaps it was defective to begin with, or perhaps I did something wrong. Luckily, I already know the process, so I should be able to fix this in a day total...

Hey vernicious, did you ever manage to get to the bottom of it? Did retorquing the heads solved your problems? I have the exact same symptoms you had and it’s driving me nuts!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

New to the forum. I have the same symptoms -will pull fine until about 2000rpm then runs out of grunt.
Did anyone find out what the problem is?

Start with the easy one Injector #1 sensor internal resistance , than go to intercooler hoses and check for craks or loose ends also look at the intercoller itself . Than check turbo and actuator . Clean MAF sensor ...and this are the basic easy checks .

Thanks for your reply. I just put another thread up (sorry I'm a bit retarded with forums and such)

The MAF is in the air cleaner box? Do you know if there other ways to check the MAF?

on some models the MAF is on air filter box next to air outlet .(mine is).
take it of and have a look at the ceramic tips if not broken .Try not to touch them as they are verry fragile (trust me I know ,manage to break one).
Use some MAF cleaner spray and just spray on the tips and let it dry .
Not sure how to check the unit itself if working or not .
