Default WK computer glitch

Had a call from the sales dude I purchased the WK from the other day indicating a problem that might cause a lot of grief.
Appears you must not switch the engine off while your foot is still on the brake pedal as this may cause the computer to get confused and lock-up. His words, not mine.
So, keep that right leg under control otherwise a trip to the dealer for a computer reboot may be needed. I drive a diesel but suspect it will apply to the petrol also.

I just had it happen to me. Arrived at work pushed the button to turn it off, had my foot on the brake. Engine stopped. But alarm began sounding. Tried to restart, nothing..... I wasnt happy, only had it for a week. Had to call Jeep roadside assist.
They are fantastic, he was here in ten minutes.
Turns out it was a problem with the key fob and the computer.
The service guy told me to put the key fob in the dash and use it like a conventional key. Its working again.
Will make sure I dont have my foot on the brake next time I shut it down.

Gday Jim, thanks for the heads up....
Must be a significant software issue that hopefully will be the subject of an update. Certainly leaving the foot on the brake while the engine is shut down is an old habit of mine going back to manual gearboxes.
Do you know if the information is from a dealer bulletin?

Default Flat battery

When I picked up the WK Jeep the dealer indicated there had been a few people experiencing flat batteries with the new WK and strongly advised not to leave the vehicle unlocked as the security system continually seeks out the electronic key (think it's referred to as a FOB) and this may flatten the battery. They also advised not to leave the key near the Jeep even after locking the vehicle as this may also cause a flat battery.
If you leave the vehicle make sure it's locked.
JnK asked.....Do you know if the information is from a dealer bulletin? in reference to the brake pedal/engine off glitch and the answer is no, sales dude rang my mobile to advise me of the potential problem.
Sorry JnK for the delay in answering.

Jim
