Doesn't help that Chrysler/FCA got some things wrong, or that parts makers create confusion (e.g. oil filter)

Bob's point about referring to Model Year NOT Build Year is such a crucial point.

Thankfully this forum is the best sorting ground
You know what they say. It is not knowledge but the illusion of knowledge that gets you into trouble.

Sorry to stir up the muddy water again, but Ryco list the 2737P as the only filter for the JGC diesel. So, is there a problem?

Not really in the Grands but was/is an issue in the RAMs as I think the oil filter housing is slightly different and the O ring wasn't sealing fully, they then advised the R2736P was the chosen one, the O ring is located at the open end of the shaft ensuring a better seal but again its a RAM thing but easier to update the filter to suit all VM engines....

The RYCO web site is now actually confusing showing both filters with the 37P being from 1/13 on while the 36P is 11/12 on, use the 36P though as the O riing is certainly a better placement...

I use the Wesfil WCO154, equivalent to the R2736P also fits the Holden Captiva diesel .....

Im using the wesfil wco201 on my 2015 gc.
As long as the O ring is positioned nearer to the end of the small pipe not half way along it.

The problem isn't a JGC one but a RAM 1500 and Wrangler which have the VM diesel EXF engine fitted, if you look at Jeep/RAM part listings they have a different oil/cooler housing and warnings about using the earlier filter..... but I like the position of the later O ring allows a bit more wriggle room .... Like most vehicles using the same engine the block may be the same but the bits hanging off can be very different......

The 2.5lt VM was fitted to Landy's, Colorado, Wranglers and a few others but the bits hanging off the motor weren't always the same.
