They are external. They fail when they damm well feel like failing - no pattern or time, so just leave it alone.

OK. Thanks. I'll get a spare with the other parts & hope I don't need it!

What about the pilot bearing? Does it need to be replaced?

Most clutch kits come with them included.... ( check ) and yes whilst the things apart its smart to change it.

Well, the Centerforce kit & spare slave cylinder set me back $486.32 and another $141.79 delivery, thanks Morris. Pilot bearing $19.15 delivered from Rockauto.

Next to arrange & afford the work to install after they all arrive. Seriously tired of opening a Hellmouth every time I start the car or change gear...

Well, it seems that it has now worn to the point that it now no longer disengages the clutch completely. The next drive will be to the mechanic.

Just hope that pilot bearing is here soon...
