Because I'm considerate of other people. One person's fun weighed against the irritation of dozens is a net loss.

You'll find a few camping areas on the Murray that allow generators. Typically outside the National Parks. If you stick to those spots, and the people who prefer peace and quiet stick to areas where they're not, everybody wins.

Were abouts do you find information on we're and we're not the are aloud to be used I don't see why they would not be aloud as from 5 meters away a normal conversation would be louder.
I am also considerate of others that's why there are rules to use jet skis.certain distances away from others. I believe a lot of jet ski owners don't no the rules and make the ones that do look bad.

I have never found a generator that quiet? Its a constant annoying noise not necessarily the outright volume that is annoying. And national parks etc are for peace and quiet.

Still not sure the OP's situation justifies requiring a generator.

I agree on not imposing on others, but a good generator is damn near silent. I have borrowed a honda for camping once. Could hardly hear it the length of the extension cord away. Also helps if you dig a hole to sit it in (which i didnt do when we used it) All the sound goes straight up.

The popping and clanking of empty stubbies make a lot more noise than a lot of these new fangled generators!

You can get the rules from the land manager's website or by asking them.

In Victoria, if it's the place you're going has National Park at the end of its name, assume that "Firearms, generators and chainsaws are prohibited".

It's because they disturb the wildlife and annoy campers. You might not find them annoying, but if other people didn't, they never would have become an issue.

Exactly. Long gone are the days of those massive umuffled things louder than your average harley.
