Default swapping suspension lift & other parts from white to black

my Black DD rear diff housing is beyond repair and rear springs badly sagged

I have decided to swap the entire rear ends over from the White one, which is an unreg writeoff, with lift, and what appear to be a rebuilt rear diff.

It is a "Limited" and the height from wheel centre to flare is 19.5"F 19"R

From a previous post,

Factory heights are

Limited = 17.5" F and 17" R

Sport = 18.5"F and 18"R

MY black Sport is 18"F (= 1/2" sag) and 16" rear...(= 2" sag)

SO, I am thinking this is a 2" lift..for a LIMITED..and therefore would technically be a 1" lift for Sport??..if spring height/arch is the only difference?

Because my springs are sagged, but assuming my above statement is correct, that will lift my rear to ~19" (1" lift for a Sport + correct 2" sag)

will check my diff ratios are the same, but this probably means I can swap rears and front independently.

would (temporarily) have 18"F and 19"R

once I change front a well, would be 19.5F and 19" rear (if my info and calcs are correct)

anyone see a handling issue with (temporarily) driving 18" F and 19" R ?

dont want too take my DD off the road more than a day or two, or work my arthritic fingers to the bone, so a staged approach is preferred

Might look a bit like a doorslammer with rake, but probably won't drive much differently, go easy & see how it handles on first drive.

Default lift

should be fine mate.
I thought most vehicles should be nose down a little anyway.

checked my diff ratios are the same 46/16.

lubed all bolts

my plan is a straight swap, diff housing complete, springs, shackles (complete with red poly bushes)

separate & swap handbrake cable complete at adjuster??

one issue I see is that my black DD is non-ABS, the white one is ABS

will there be any issue putting the ABS rear brakes/axle unit in my non-ABS ?...do I need to change any extra parts over ?

I will then be placing the non-ABS unit in my unreg white one, which has ABS master cyl etc...so long as the brakes still function, that is ok...will they?

simple question..when an XJ lift is advertised as 2", 3" etc, am I right in presuming that is for a "standard" height XJ ?

A Sport is 1" higher from the factory..is that only due to springs?

therefore, any lift advertised will be 1" LESS (than stated) for a Sport?

loosened the 13/16" spring bolt on both cars with success ( x 8 )

busted the wall right out of a socket, on the one hole I had forgotten to soak with penetrant,, was using a trolley jack to loosen

Yeah I was reading the ARB old man emu doc, and it was for my 2" lift. It said 'note than on Upcountry models, the lift will only be 1-1.5" over stock. So yes it's off the limited height

The standard height for an Xj is based on the Limited, the sports received the upcountry pack with comprised of different springs (+1"), different shocks longer, heavier rear bump stops, rear chassis reinforcement plates for the bump stops and larger tyres (225/75/15 v 225/70/15)...

well pointed out JJ and we have spoken about this before but I would just like to throw this bit of observation here
I have measured the wheel centre to the wheel arch on my limited and the red sport as my limited sits higher ok I have a 2" lift on the limited yellow springs in the front now another friend of mine has a 98 sport and all 3 jeeps parked together my limited and the 98 sport are the same roof height and the 99 sport is lower? by heaps I wonder if someone lowered it to be more of a road car? if so dumb

I recently removed all my suspension and refitted my original suspension, it now sits at 18" in the front and around 18.25" in the rear but my leaf packs were reset with an AAL so this means my front has sagged by 0.5" over time, not too bad and yes mine is a sport...
