Default The 34x10?

BFG seem to been addressing the few options available for extra height with a closer to stock contact patch and sidewall.

An attempt to provide better on road characteristics while delivering more clearance or perhaps just another way to empty more from your pockets?

Who knows but I like the idea of losing the unnecessary rolling resistance and running concerns of a wider tire, I get better fuel economy and a much better ride running a 33X10's on my TJ so I can only assume the same would transpose to the JK

Anyway it's just a wet dream for me (and a nightmare to certify) but I was thinking perfect for a JK?

The 34x10.50R17/D 120 R

WARNING: Not available in australia that I know of as yet and no MT's ether , they usualy come next BFG

I've tied a 255/80/17 (33) and I'm not so sure about that width. Definitely need a compromise between a digger and a floater. 265 to 285 in a 34/35 would be great if only they were available in Australia.

10.5 comes out at 265 - that'd suit me perfectly.

BFG do the KM2 in a 255/80R17. But only in the KM2 & only in the US.

Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 LT255/80R17

Let's see, currently $233.88US ea, that's $326ea plus shipping & fitting. I was considering ordering some, but the dollar tanked before I needed them.

I could have sworn I read somewhere on the us forums that there was only a 0.5 inch difference in actual size between the bfg ko2 285/70r17 and the 34/10.5r17

Tanked! funny but what a bitch of a situation that is atm

-------------------------------------------------------

I hope the below info is corect, the two sites I used to compile this info - bfgoodrich.com.au & bfgoodrichtires.com

size | rim range | diameter | weight

255/80R17 | 6.5 - 8.5" | 33.3 | 54
price $500+

34x10.50R17 | 7 - 9" | 33.5 | 66.5 AT
price n/a

285/75R17 | 7 - 9" | 32.8 | 66.5 AT
price $500-

33x10.5R15 | 7 - 9" | 32.8" | 49 AT / 50.8 MT
price $373 ebay AU $240 lol

Rant time...
Thought I might change from a 15" to 17" on account of weight so I'm weighing tyres & wheels in the hope of reducing more unsprung weight!

I have a longarm kit with cheese cutters 33x10 on my TJ which makes a huge difference, getting closer to the feel (with respect to bumps) of the more refined JK with 285/75R16 on road, off road though, nother story, JK will still eat bumps better from what I've seen even after all the upgrades, soft springs, adjustable shocks long arm, skinny tyres, etc. sniff sniff

It's interesting if not strange how the 16 and 17 inch alternative to the old 15 in a 33" are heavier! That does my head in - how can a tyre that's similar in height with less sidewall be heavier? It's gotta be the thickness, compound density or the extra with?
