Default 33 muddies on stock wheels, no spacers.

Hey guys, just wondering if I'd be able to run 33's on my jku. I know that if I trim some stuff there wont be an issue with a spacer, but since spacers are illegal in SA and I want 33's, is it possible?

Stock wheels are 17x7.5 and I want to avoid running pizza cutters.

Mate, I'm in sa. And stock wheels on 33" do fit.

Though I have steelies as stock wheels are not good for actual 4wding. Click image for larger version

Awesome. Might go grab some this weekend. Did you have to trim the airdam?

Or do your steelies have decent backspacing?

You can fit 33" on stock wheels. It depends on the width of tire you choose, you might have issue with rubbing for some.

more like an age old rivalry between steel vs alloy however, to say "steelies are not good for actual 4wdriving" would be misleading because each have their own attributes... ex: Steel rims are actually more popular for off road as they cost two thirds less then alloy, are readily available just about anywhere so a more reliable choice, more so when traveling in remote locations.

And if you dent one, you can easily hammer it mostly back into shape...

33's are basically 285/70R17 on the JK & plenty of people use them on stock wheels, (like me). May rub a little on the sway bar at full lock when flexed.

That is why I use steel rims off road. The few times I've used alloy wheels in rocky terrain, they were damaged.
I would rather have to hammer out a steel rim out in the middle of nowhere than have a useless busted alloy rim.
Also we remove all the alloy wheels from our fleet of Toyotas for exactly that reason.
The only real issue I have with steel is the weight, and I think I can live with that.
