What is the widest tyre i can fit on a std XJ rim...thx

31x10.5 inch but it will rub without a lift, 30x10inch is better but fewer choices in tough tyres.
Assuming of course by "standard" you mean the 15inch rim and not the 16inch alloy found on the last of the models.

Yes mate it has 15" rims & 2" lift, would like to purchase 15x8 steel rims and go bigger on the tyres again.....any idea bigger tyre that can be fitted then..thx

you are better off sticking with a 7 " rim unless you are going to run a tyre wider than 10.5 " and at 2" lift you wont be doing that .
You can run a 8 " rim if you wish it will just mean much greater chance of popping a bead off a rim when you air down.
