JK's are heavier, wider, longer, and everything is electronic, so way more to potentially go wrong. Tjs are cheaper, easier to mod I reckon.
Yeah they have the older 4l straight six, but it will do 300,000ks and they are a nice torquey motor, but not especially efficient.
The earlier JK petrols are gutless and I've seen a few smokey ones with barely 100,000 on them.
Both have the same diffs, Dana 30 front and 44 rear, give or take.
Save the money on a vehicle upgrade and out it towards mods.
