Not meant to be one on the drivers side.
As you close the bonnet look at where it is going, helps protect the air intake from foreign objects and also water to some extent on deep crossings.

Default Rubber strip on Bonnet

Hi All
I also did think it was strange the strip was missing as the holes are there for mounting. Did buy 1 from USA with other parts, to fit the strip,as it is the 1 from the other side of the bonnet it must be reversed and 2 of the holes do not line up with the mounting pins.
The mounting pins are easy to remove and fit into the new holes ( make a templet as the strip is curved )When fitting peel off the sticky strip and fit into place.
It does help with bugs and insects that end up on top of the headlight.

I think you will find those holes are there for fitting the bonnet protector. I used them to fit my bonnet protector.
