Default Hemi 5.7 Grand 2005 Black Brisbane

Update - $2,500 Please read the whole story. Nth NSW, Kyogle.
2005 Grand Cherokee 5.7 Litre V8 260kW Petrol Black with stock wheels
Asking price is $2,500 firm
200,000km plus
Will not start due to security gremlin. Has high pressure in coolant when hot - possible head problem?
I suggest a head gasket and a key reader, but don't care to find out. It's in good nick, I'm just well over it and don't have time to sort it out.

Suspension upgrade, incorporated hands-free, remote tyre pressures, 3500kg tow pack, multi-displacement 8cyl/4cyl, GPS on dash, dark tint, great work car / tow car / cruiser.

Don't sell it, put some decent wheels & rubber on it, a 3" lift & take it bush, you'll be surprised how capable they are

Default Too Pretty?

Yeti - It's like using the Mona Lisa for a coffee table cover, sure it would do the job but.....
....But I bought an XJ for 2 1/2 grand, who cares how I kill it and how long that takes.

Mate you have no price listed? I've recently had my WJ stolen... now looking at options.
Do you still have original wheels?

Default Wheels maketh thy car

No sorry havent got the original wheels.
These were on it when I bought it. If you are worried about tyre replacement (before I bought it I actually went down to the local Bridgestone and priced tyres!!) I punctured one only recently so bought a pair to keep the tread wear the same, under $500 for two fitted and finished. So not too bad. It was cool though - dash says "Front right LOW pressure warning" flashing and watching the pressure count down on the dash. Cool.
Lots of great Jeep gadgets like that on board. Auto tinting mirrors are great at night when idiots leave their lights on high.
Fuel economy is as you would expect - or you are kidding yourself, I get 13s on the highway at 110/120 and 17 towing a camper trailer fully laiden. I can get it to read 20 but it scares the children...! And I get a punch in the arm.
I have had over 20 cars of different breeds and the last a Land Rover V8 and it's chalk and cheese. I have spent about 150 bucks on this in a year (apart from services/tyres) for a front bush, nothing else needed. The Disco ate that every fortnight for something! Too bad, I do wish I could keep it.
$28k

Sorry - but I still have it - 200,000km on it and going strong, just dirty. If you are buying one though, it's a good read because no-one can fake the history of posting this one so long ago and still hanging onto it. I have replaced a water pump and brake discs / pads. Regular service by myself, nothing special, oil and filters. This is still THE best car I've owned and now it's time to buy another car for work, I'd have another one in a blink. For all the Pootroll and Prada lovers - well, good luck.

Just an update for anyone who followed this very long tale.
Still have the WH GC now with 240,000 km on it and love it.
With one exception.
I cooked it one extremely hot day towing a massive car trailer full of parts on fairly ordinary northern NSW mountain roads.
Overheated and blew a radiator tank. Pretty exciting. Not good.
Fine after replacing a radiator (cheap too for these things) except it always used just a bit of coolant, like it had a tiny drip leak (which it didn't). So one busy hot summer day - after not checking the water for about a month. I cooked it again blowing off the top hose and getting the death rattle to a stop, main street of Byron Bay. Stealership = $260 for a hose and none in the country. From there it has gone downhill, hoses, thermostats, pumps radiators. I've replaced everything on the front and it still overheats, worse every time. So i had the coolant system pressure tested - NOT up to pressure, it holds pressure just fine, but rather FOR pressure.
So the head(s) are NG with possible implications of valve seats and timing chain at this age. Repair or replace? Have you priced a 5.7 hemi replacement - cubic dollars!!
Still a great car to drive - all time favourite in fact, but busted arse and siting in the shed. I dropped the rego - it's run through one tank of fuel in ten months...!
But just found a 5.7 at a wreckers not wanting 'drug money' for it.
So it just may live again. Surely it can't be too much trouble to just unplug this motor and plug in a new one right???

Stay tuned.
