OK......final fix was........

.........took off the front passenger side door trim and looked at the wiring and connector plugs and immediately noticed that the connector that is supposed to plug into the back of the power lock switch was NOT plugged in.

Plugged that in and all works exactly as it should.

BTW, the door trim had been removed by the "supposed" "authorised" Jeep service centre - obviously they'd neglected to connect up all of the different wires and plugs they'd disconnected.

Glad you got it sorted. Quite often I get more problems after sending my Jeeps to dealership service centres. That's why I don't anymore, they're sh1t

Well it appears that it was not a Jeep service dealer as such, just someone claiming to be.

Yeah..... very strange, they were able to get the correct replacement transponder fob overnight from Perth and had the correct DRBIII Scantool, but couldn't program it..... had to tow my Jeep to an auto electrician and lend him the scantool.

When I called the Jeep Assist freecall number to see if they could give technical field service advice to the "Jeep dealer" FCA said that they weren't an Authorised Jeep Service Centre or Dealer and had nothing whatsoever to do with FCA/ Chrysler Jeep.

Not reconnecting the wiring plug was nearly as bad as spending time trying to program it whilst the door trim (with the transponder receiver) was not in the car, so that was disconnected also at one stage.
