Check engine light doesn't work, 95xj
Hey all my obd1 xj's check engine light doesn't work. All the other lights work but this one doesn't. I don't think it ever has. Is it a globe or LED?

A long time ago, in a Galaxy Far Away, my Steeler (i.e. the dark side ) said I could not get these any more. I too have a 95 XJ - Sport.
So what they did, was move the seatbelt warning globe across to the Check Engine Light. I am unsure if there are any other reds on that cluster anywhere that can be spared. You need the hand brake lamp which is also red to remain.... Methinks the rest are amber or green....
Now if anyone here knows where to get these buggers in any colour, please lemme know tooo... as well as how to install... someone must have done a write up or Youtube video...

All the bulbs are clear the colour and shape of the indicator comes from the plastic cover.
i have not been able to get the bulbs out of the holder to replace them.
i had "spare" bulbs in the cluster, ABS (not fitted but had bulb), and seat belt as well.

oh yes , at least get the bulbs, if not the whole instrument cluster, get flasher relays, back window heater relay/ controler, auto reseting circut breakers in the fuse panel, fuses, standerd relays, trim fasteners. spare switches, especially the fan blower switch.
Its 22 years old if it ain't broken yet it will soon.
Good luck with it.
with the instrument cluster if its the same as yours Ie OBD1 or obd2 the tacho will work. if it is not i'm pretty sure it will not work.
Hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in

Yeah I believe its the same. It's a 96, but same spec and all as my car. Nothing bar the driveshaft seemed overly different. Will go and pay it a visit sunday morning I think! I have a fair few bits I need off it now....
Wheres the fan blower switch? all under the dash?
