WH CRD 05 no power please help

My 05 Grand Cherokee CRD is not accelerating properly. Had a bit of trouble starting and then when I went out the road it lost all power at about 80kmh, very slowly speeding up until 110kmh. Took it for another drive later and started fine and when you put your foot down soon after start up it pulls away as usual not lacking power then after 100m or so it dies off again only very slowly increasing speed.
When you come to a complete stop for a few seconds and take off again there is no power or if you stop for a few minutes just idling it takes off a little quicker but still a severe loss in power. If you pull up and turn it off for a few minutes then take off again it has power again for 100m or so then back to nothing.
There is no surging or unusual sounds that I have noticed and no lights on the dash. Fuel filter was replaced around 8000km ago.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance
