Default New Car Help!

Hey AusJeepers,

I've narrowed my search down to these 2 vehicles. Both roughly the same price kms etc.

JGC 1. 2005 3.0L CRD Laredo. 161000km, lifted, HD tow pack. Knock in front end somewhere. Beige - $9950

JGC 2. 2005 4.7L V8 Limited. 192000km, roof racks fitted. Coolant Leak, CV Joints noisy. Black - $9500

My head is telling me the CRD is the better deal, but my heart is leaning towards a Black V8. How can I sperate these two vehicles? Is the CRD a much better engine, or are they fairly similar in performance and economy?

HELP!

Let's be honest, Jeep's aren't bought with the head! If you buy the diesel, are you gonna regret it every time you pull up at the lights next to a black V8?

CRD is the better buy of the two, I have a Hemi because I wanted a WH Overland. I think the 4.7 would struggle with the weight to be honest, because my 5.7 is no rocket ship, 0-100 8.12 seconds(vbox).

You are coming from a high torque turbo car the power delivery of the CRD would be closer to what you are use to, it's cheaper to insure, it's much better on fuel, will tow easier, already has suspension and tyres.

I got the khaki CRD - so far so good - I get 750 a tank in long drives and 600 in town
depends on your use.

if you want the power - i guess you cant really pass on the hemi

Petrol 200k, not a HEMI, I would pass. Why? Because its not a HEMI! 4.7's are good but if I were to buy a V8 then I would get the 5.7.

CRD is a good price, the knock is probably the front diff bush's &/or the front sway bar bush's. Neither are a deal breaker.

Either is a bargain at $10k, both need work, if you want to jump into the world of Diesel's then the Merc engine in the WH is one of the best (510 nm torque).

If you are more comfortable with petrol then there's your answer.

So, I went with the diesel. I test drove the V8 and it had a lot of little issues that I wasn't really happy about. Got home late last night, so haven't had a chance to play yet, but your opinions were all much appreciated.
