Default Reverse Light or Backup Light wiring in Trailer plug

I have an MY18 Trial Hawk WK2 and I am adding a wireless camera on a Tyre Trek rear bar that carries tyre, 20 Litres of Fuel and 20 litres of water. This is because the Tyre Trek will obscure the original camera.
I have a WIFI camera to mount and need the Reserve/backup light +12V to turn it on. The trailer socket has this and is called the Revering Light.
My issue is that I have that I tested the voltage on the trailer socket with the Jeep in reverse that should have turned it on, but this did not happen even thought the reverse lights were on. I have thought of connecting the camera to the reverse lights but that is a lot more difficult to do than using the trailer plug.
Any thoughts on this? Is there something that has to be turned on to make it work?
What do you think?
Best regards, Adrian.

Unfortunately reverse is rarely connected by installers Adrian.

You can pick it up in the interior right rear quarter, on top of / behind the wheelarch. It's green/white on MY14, and I believe still the same up to current builds.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your suggestion, when I pulled off the plastic trim in the cargo bay I found the WH/GR wire at the top of the cargo door. but decided that surely its just a loose connection in the wiring harness, If the wire is connected in the socket. It is in the trailer socket and it is a Morpar bar and harness.

Thank you I will rethink and route another wire to the harness.

Best regards, Adrian.

I'd put a few bucks on it having been connected to WiFi somewhere in the boot cavity [emoji23]

Hi All,
I finally took it back to the dealership as it was under warranty and it turned out that there was a connection that was open.
Regards,
Adrian.
