Actually they are very cheap to fix, cost is about $1.00. Especially after 2 I'd be bypassing the circuit and leaving it disconnected. It makes negligible difference to the operation of the car. Mind you there must still be a leak causing it.

Have they said what caused it to fail again?

There seems to be a few repeat offenders, are they sealing up the seal which i had done after mine went (also Oct 2010) i also then had a Provent Filter fitted and have done almost 30,000k's since, but will get it checked at the 100,000k's service next week.

For a bit of fun is anybody interested in having a Swirl Motor victim meetup at the Jambo? Maybe invite a Jeep rep along to explain why they continually fail?

Thanks Chris (and others) for your commiserations.

There is a reason why they fail - it is a known Mecerdes fault! Unsure which Merc vehicles have the same problem, however any Chrysler vehicle fitted with this engine will suffer this breakdown many times in its lifetime.

This time it turned into a $4000 job most of which was covered by aftermarket warranty.
(Swirl motor, linkages, inlet manifold, vanes, gaskets etc)

You can cope with breakdowns but when your vehicle is off the road for the second time for the same issue its time to take some radical action!

Here's a list of my Jeep issues in three and a half years and 125,000 Km -
Front window winder modules
Rear diff re-build
LH front driver shaft, CV joint seals & bearing
Electronic Brake Module short/failure
Swirl Motor and seal (first time)
Blown radiator
Swirl Motor, Seal, Linkages, Inlet Manifold, gaskets etc (second time)
Three Batteries

Weeks of inconvenience whilst travelling.

Dodgy dealership at Rockhampton who couldn't fix my vehicle and left it splattered in mud and minus a bash plate when picked up, fixed in Townsville by a reputable dealer (Chrysler paid a night out on the town and accomodation to square off with us for the Rocky incompentence)

Throughout all of this Chrysler Customer Service have been extremely helpful, but it cast a query of reliability on their product and the end of the road for me and Jeep.

I traded it on a Mitsubishi Pajero, now the constantly breaking down Jeep is someone else's problem.

Regards Johnv (aka "reformedjeeper" on the Pajero Club of Victoria Forum)

John, I'm shocked, well not really. I know you had been getting a bit dissapointed in your WH for a short while now. Where were you when you traded? Did you keep any of the aftermarket kit you had on it? If you did please let me know (by PM) as I may be interested in taking some of it off your hands.
Funny my best mate just traded his Pajero in on a new WK Laredo as he had towing capacity concerns. Love his new Jeep. Anyhow hope you are happy with your new tug. Keep smiling.....

I notice the write up on the resistor fix for the swirl motor in this thread but does anyone have similar for the EGR disable? Searched right over the threads but can't find the link. 06 WH 3.0CRD. It appears the gunk in the manifold is all from the EGR.
