This may be kinda off topic, but how the hell do i remove my tranny sump. That cross member is a bitch, along with the rest of the 18mm bolts. And why isnt there a sump drain plug in the 545rfe pan? Btw i was going to use the Nulon Synthetic for autotransmissions oil too, it states on the reverse ATF+4

On my WH HEMI Grand I had no issue with the cross member but had an issue with the CAT, so I used a knuckle to get in there but it was still a PITA.

On my last change, I ended up welding a plug for less messy future changes, I was frikken bathed in fluid LOL

So you think Mopar make oil .... interesting situation .. they just source it badged as Mopar (with of course the appropriate pricing).
So it is another product to start with anyway .. if the replacement has the same spec, then this should NOT have any effect on the engine, etc or seals.
The only problem you may encounter is when you substitute synthetics for spirit based oils or vice versa (not recommended at any time).
I use the Valvoline to the same spec as required without any problems with Nulon in the Power Steer.

I'm pretty sure that with the size of MOPAR they can get just about anything manufactured to any spec. they want, so its IMO not automatically just another product repackaged.

With "ATF+4" being a Chrysler trademark obviously others can't use it, which of course makes everyone wonder if ATF+4 is equivalent to ATF4+

Auto's are complex devices heavily reliant on the working fluid, so it does seem a risk to substitute. The JK six speed gearbox oil in another example of "factory only" and when you dig down there is a sound technical reason why the specific spec should be used ( compatibility with the synchro ring material ).... but in this case there is at least one other option.

Issues with substitution may also take time to show up, so a short term "its all good" may not be ok in time.

If I had an auto...... I'd probably run MOPAR in the absence of definite compatibility.

Follow this link to show all licensed brands of ATF+4

Follow this link for an explanation of the properties of ATF+4, it is a very special fluid, after reading this you wouldn't want to risk using anything else http://www.allpar.com/mopar/transmissions/fluids.html
