I'm on my 5th battery, all needing replacement due to massive battery case swelling. (it actually looks like it will pop!)
No over-charging issues from the alternator.
Anyone else had this problem?

Did the original battery have this problem also? Was it replaced under warranty? Did you replace it with an OEM (Jeep) battery or use another brand? If so what brand and what are its specs? Do you have a CRD or Petrol, if petrol what engine size? How many Kms on your clock?
Questions, questions, what did you have for breakfast?

How best to fix the problem and where can I get parts if that's what's required?[/B]
I have had two wheel alingments now about 3 months apart, in both instances I have has to go back for them to have a second "go" and it has been OK after this. (One before Cape York and one some months after Cape York)

Sorry, knew you'd want more.
2006 WH 5.7 hemi.
All batteries have been replaced under warranty with genuine units.
60,000 klm but has been an issue since 20,000klm.
It has bben nearly one full year since the last replacement.
Vehicle has just come out of warranty, and Jeep says they've ordered another new battery "in an act of good faith". Said new battery is yet to arrive.
No pics sorry, just imagine the lower casing very bulging

S--t Marlin my imagination went into overdrive then - a pregnant battery?

What answers have Jeep given you, or, is it too difficult for them??
Have you had it to the same Jeep dealer every time, if so try and take it to another dealer and see if they can get a handle on the problem.
Other than Jeep, where have you been to with it? Can I suggest a very good Auto Electrician and a Battery Manufacturer?

I would want to get to the bottom of the problem - 2 stuffed batteries is too much of a coincidence, 4 is intolerable.

There is obviously an intermittent electrical issue that is causing it, if you find the answers via the sources I have suggested, send Jeep the bill and be prepared to stand your ground.
You as a customer purchased a vehicle that has a 3 year / 100,000Km warranty and they should have the resources to fault-find or refer it to someone else to deal with it, just replacing the battery is a cop-out!
What happens if your electrical problem sets fire to your vehicle and your family are on board? Are you going to be caught up between Jeep denial and an insurance company saying well it's Jeep they knew - and no vehicle?
Sorry to sound so aggressive, it's more than a serious issue!
Let me know how you get on I am concerned for you.

Yeah thanks mate, I've had it checked and re-checked, one of my best mates owns a large auto electrician workshop and all the guys have had a look at some stage, with zero fault found. Early in the piece the issue of dead batteries was traced to the roof mounted dvd player, but no reason why they keep swelling up.
To be honest, I don't have the energy to be overly concerned about it, and I don't have a family that could be caught it in if it caught fire. Once the next new battery goes in today, I'll wizz it out, and put some heat reflective tape on the engine side, because I don't believe it's a charging issue, but rather a latent heat problem.
I'll let you know how it goes!
