Default Tyre Size Question - 235/85x16

I have the opportunity of picking up a secondhand set of BFG AT KO's sized 235/85x16 at a rather...welll... great price.

Does anyone know how these would be on the WJ with a standard OME kit fitted?

The 85 profile intrigues me, as they are rather tall (which is good) but not too wide (235) that they will rub like crazy on the rear shocks.

Any advice most welcome

Cheers
Chris

Ooh!

I've just looked them up on the BFG site, and outside diameter is around 31.8".

I fear this may be too large..... ?? Would it bind on the front wheel well's fore and aft protrusions...... or rear mudguard?

Yikes! They are a great price (from a mate of mine) but I'm not sure whether they'd be OK...

if its a mate. askhim to see if you can mount them on and ahve a look see before buying.
me thinks the width is cool, i had 245'75 on mine and no problem, 265 is close, 235? im pretty sure it would be cool...

height wise?
this pic shown is 245'75 wiht OME2" & 2" ice hockey pucks.

that should help you imagine it better..

Billsta -

The 245/75's are 30.6 inch diameter (according to the BFG chart).

The ones I'm looking at are 31.8 inch.

Me thinks they'll be too large in the diameter.

The tyres are new, and sitting on the floor of his shed. He bought them for his Defender 110, hence the 85-series. It'd be a case of having to rip a tyre off one of my rims, mounting his, seeing if all's OK (what about on full articulation???) and then putting mine back on. What a pain...

i notice that,
thought you might be able to image wtih the photo,
say the 235's are 1" dia taller than the 245, then its only .5" taller from axle then the 245's.
so its not all that taller (12.5mm)..

then minus a coupla inches from the lift on the pic.. the fender is about 2.5"
by the looks of it, it should fit ok..
but best bet is to test fit dude.

i might be able to find a coupla pic of WJ with the 235's
go and have a look at the photo page at www.nagca.com you should be able to find a few pics of WJ with that size tires on it.
i've seen one wtih 235's & 4" lift, looks good, but skinny ass tires..

edit
come to think of it, you better test fit it,
just remember that for soem reason you WJ sits lower then Al's. it might be tight with the 32's.
and you had the 1000th post in this section

Yeah billsta - I'll try them on for size over the weekend. I reckon they'll look like cookie cutters..... as they do on a Landy.
