Hmmm, you know the ECM can not just be switched, as everything in the car software is keyed to the original ECM. They can be physically replaced but if not keyed identically it will not run.

It sounds to me like the original problem could be fuel related, turning a corner causing fuel to not be picked up in the tank, and in the line, loss of suction through the fuel head, etc. Weak pressure could also indicate a blocked fuel filter, or one where air has gotten into the fuel head preventing pickup. I would first maje sure you have fuel in the tank, second bleed the fuel head ( there is a push button on the fuel head, pump that as you open the bleed nipple, until all Airbus evacuated and fuel squirms out the bleed valve, tighten the bleed valve immeadiately before and can get back intobtge head.
One other thing to check is: how old is the fuel filter? It should be replaced every 60,000kms at most. I used to replace mine at 40,000 intervals. Spin it off and check inside, it may be clogged with the dreaded black diesel bugs, and hence blocking flow - if so replace. Go through pumping and bleed procedure. You can refill it with clean diesel, to avoid having to pump it full. Don't forget to bleed it.

If none of the above, try the injector pump, worth checking. It is on the front of the engine, and given the age of the vehicle, it may have busted a seal and lost pressure.

Thanks glend.

WWdiesel on lost is helping.
Has gone way past your suggestions & all have been done.
All sensors & solenoid replaced along with filter.
Injectors & CP3 changed.
Trying to determine fuel rail pressure when starting.
Have been checking wires to sensors etc for connectivity.
You can follow what is happening on captain Dean's clicking & clanking thread on lost if you are interested.

My old XJ is keeping me mobile.
