yuo aint got 1
pre 99 have a MAF sensor just behind the air cleaner post 99 have a MAP sensor that is located on top of the inlet manifold at the engine end.

Hi murray
Thank you I have been doing my head in over I only asked cause I had my fuel pump fixed and my xj is over revving in idle like idling bout 1000 rpm.
Wanted to make sure it was a map sensor, looking to replace now and I know for sure now so its gunna cost me $160 roughly to replace I have replaced my number 1 injector bout a year ago and my fuel pump fixed and a second look in the last 8 months bur a big thanks to you all on this forum you guys have no idea how much you guys have help me out and I love my jeep cherokee till the body rusts or I die first lol

It sounds like your idle needs adjusting. You loosen the top of the injector pump & move it back about .5mm. That should lower the idle.

I bought an 2000 XJ VM and it has many of the problems that occur when the care recommended in this thread is not given.
Radiator is full of mud and rust.
Head gasket coolant leak.
Leak in the intercooler hose causing loss of boost pressure and possibly the reason for oil in the intercooler. Turbo is leaking oil too.
Mechanic has suggested to work on the issues with the front end to begin with. Get the radiator cleaned out and inspected before thinking about replacing it.
In the meantime I've just been onto PRW radiators (Queensland) and they gave me a rough quote of $925 for a new rad and $250ish(? foggy memory) for an oil cooler (280x189x37mm 21row, Part No: PWO5931).
Just thought it'd be worthwhile posting here about it in case anyone had any pearls of wisdom to impart about it.
