The first TJ I sold when I started with Jeep was early 1997. Sold it over the phone to these poms who were coming out for a long holiday to see down under. They thought a TJ would be a great way to see Oz.
Anyway, there I am a few weeks later showing them their new car blah blah blah this is how the top works blah blah blah the fuel goes in here blah blah and this crusty old bloke pulls up in his F100 with this huuuge MF of a caravan. I'm tellin' ya, it's the Hyatt on four wheels!
The next thing is, they're paying for the caravan and hitching it up! I reckon the whole shooting match weighs 1800 kg + !!
I'm telling these people no way you can't do this you're gonna die and I'll be picking up the soap in Long Bay.....
So I called them every week to see if they were still alive on their circumnavigation of the country and guess what they survived.
I can tell ya I was s.....g bricks for about three months. That thing would have been so overloaded.
So it goes to show that common sense isn't very common and you may not need it anyway.
