What I find amusing, is that on the rhs, in the column, "country of origin", all but the Stant rad cap, assembled in Mexico, is from China. ????
Looking at the products, only the Pronto filters are made in China. Hmf.

Get the young bloke to fit it all quicksmart - and do a test drive,

You've only got till the 27th to send it back ..

Can you send it back once you've used it?

Cooling system OH didnt start well.

I was a Bursons and inquired a rad cap, thermo, and gasket for a '96 4.0

Do you have a Sports or Limited he asked ?...fknose was my reply.
It would appear I have to email Jeep to find out for sure?
(although it seems I may have a Sport)

He showed me the thermostat pics and they are different profiles, one having a thicker centre section..I deferred a decision on that, I cannot see this issue mentioned in my search of the archives, although perhaps it is in there somewhere. The brand was Trident

I purchased a new cap, to replace the one I consider suspect...it is difficult to remove or refit. I was supplied with a Trident CA16110.

I cannot fit this item at all, although it is close, the tangs will not engage no matter how hard I push down..I will take it back, and ask them to try.
Has anyone encountered this issue?

* Note..the radiator is swapped from another Jeep of similar year... does that matter?

I will be putting the vehicle to much use over the weekend, checked the trailer wiring, OF COURSE there was a problem, no LH indicator = cut wire in harness in Jeep..turns out many wires badly cracked in Jeep trailer harness, (which was puzzling and concerning) so had to solder in new wires, just for once, I wish they would make harnesses that were even just a couple of inches longer, would make repairing them less frustrating...at least it seems good to go now

Ok AWG.
As far as I know, there is no difference in rad caps across all species .Thermostats the same. The only encounter I have received regarding rad caps is I have had some that were short in the spring from the cap to the washer and not putting enough pressure to seal under pressure. Brands vary.

Worked on the white Jeep today. Bash plate off and a full degrease and wash. Looked into the steering and found the track bar bracket was loose to the frame. Tightened it up and much better. Still a bit of flex in the frame. Have to look into reinforcing.
I also found the adjuster on the steering arm was totally loose. I can't believe I drove it home without being killed. Did a rough wheel alignment. Should be good for rego and then I can go from there.

I did sort a couple of things...firstly, to answer my own question.

The spare tailgate peg I got DOES NOT rotate, and will be easier to repair with weld than mine, as it is not so gouged..I proved out this is the issue by taping the peg...shut up the rattle completely for a while.

Was able to grab another wheel too, my front Cooper tyre had bulged the sidewall to the extent a blowout was imminent, very scary. I thought my trailer tyre was the issue till I disconnected it. Tyre must have been a very old one. Problem started and got much worse in a very short period
