Default LED? HID? or HALOGEN driving lights what are best for long trips on country roads

Hi folks
I'm looking at mounting a set of driving lights on my 2012 WK2 Grand Cherokee Limited and can't decide which kind to buy.

I don't have a bully or nudge bar so i purchased a 5mm thick aluminium number plate Driving Light mounting bracket to mount the lights on.

I have 4300K D1S HID Headlights that work great in suburbia, however they are not that great when your on back roads,
they light up signs and road markings nicely just don't seem to do much for distance illumination past 400 metres,
and i want to be able to see Skippy and his band of bush rangers before they jumps in front of me.

I was thinking of getting Halogen with 130 watt globes as they have a good clean reflector for spot beam,
and are easy and cheap to maintain, just change the globe when it burns out not the whole Light
as with LED setups and HID are so big and bulky not to mention costly.

Any thoughts?

You want a light spread that goes to the side a bit as thats where the skippies are that get you, not so much the ones way up the road.. I would go LEDs for spotties myself ..........

which was exactly the reason on the current wk2 i dropped the lightforce htx and went with the lightbar . Don't need to see 8km down the road but i can see both sides of the road past the farmers fences so that's where you need it
