Default HPFP Recall in the US

Looks like there is new recall for the HP fuel pump on the diesel engine.

Interesting that it shows up against my VIN #

Wonder if FCA Stelantis or whoever it is this week extends this to Aus.

Interesting, my VIN is in there too. If you go to open the PDF though you get a page not found error. Wouldn't mind a replacement fuel pump, mine's gotten bloody noisy

Crap mines there as well, Z46 and the pdf file defaults to 404 so must be rewriting it..

here's the place: https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehic...ls/search.html

Wonder if they will cover the $80 or more of fuel so I can get it done ??? plus possible motel bill...................

Must be early nothing on a Google search yet.

Are they talking about the CP4 Bosch pump at the front of the motor, then yes there has been plenty of failures as the roller cam followers and pistons (twin pump) can turn 90 degrees when at tdc or bdc and then score the cam lobes which push metallic debris into the high pressure side, injectors and return line to the fuel tank. There a a gauze filter but that normally disintegrates under the pressure. There is a company in the States that has a better filter system that sits under the MProp solenoid valve. About time that issue was addressed and it is also on the export MY11-13 with the diesel

It’s not some it’s ALL, as there is no mechanical guide to stop them from turning

My feeling is it will be all and they're just playing word games - i.e. only some will fail. Just had a look on one of the Facebook groups and it seems everyone who checks is coming up on the list.

Can't see Jeep handling the replacement of 10s of thousands of HPFP very well. How accessible is it on the front of the engine?

Doesn't look all that hard to get at but like all these diesel pumps need to be super clean, a quick look online shows they are in the $US1100 so I imagine there will be lots of Nil Stock soon, notice the pump has had a few part revisions as well so if you wanted to buy one yourself, $AUD 2 grand I reckon delivered, you would have to make sure it was the latest and not some dodgy earlier version...

Numbers I found were 68211268AA and 68501449AA .... I'm just crossing my fingers as I can see this isn't going to be a quick fix at all.... .. I wonder if they come up with a temp fix ???? lol.

Have to 101 CP4 Bosch pumps, it actually rings a bell so might have looked at them before sometime.

Some history.............. https://www.dieselhub.com/tech/bosch...p-failure.html

Hmmm, mine is there too. You'd be right LeCheese, unlikely FCA will be out to replace thousands of possibly dodgy fuel pumps.

Be like pretty well all full on recalls, not all parts will fail, but there will likely be some so the only way is to replace all.

But now that a recall has been issued and a fault recognised, if there was a failure they surely would then have to replace the pump and repair damages.

The recall status though is noted as "Incomplete but repair parts are not available"

Maybe it will be cheaper for FCA in the long run to just repair / replace any failures?

Thanks Drover for the link......
