Default LB1 Mod Plate

Hi Everyone,
I recently did a manual swap on my 96 XJ using a NSG370. I would like to get it registered again and make it legit but I presume I need a mod plate. The documents online are as clear as mud and I've tried to contact people who do mod plates but they have ghosted me. The transmission tunnel isn't modified nor is the crossmember. What else is necessary to get a mod plate

i may stand corrected, but if you have not physically modified anything, and its just nuts and bolts i don't think you should have an issue.

i know in the BMW community swapping out an auto for a manual is a common mod, and i don't think it raises any issues

Mod plates vary from state to state...like most govt regs....some states are easy, others not so....an auto engineer will be able to give the correct info....contact your local hot rod club and ask them who they use...they will be using the right people to 'get it done' without heartache.

If possible, I would just try to reg the vehicle without any modifications approval from the RTA

Depends what State you live in, procedures vary

If you just need a pink slip, I would find one that is easy going, and Bobs yr uncle

If it needs a Blue Slip, I would still try to get it reg without an engineers certification, because that costs quite a few hundred extra $, and may be a hassle, if they see something they dont like

As a general rule If the mod was available as a factory option it does not require an engineers report, if the work was not a factory option it generally does require an engineers input. See design rule 14 for vehicle mods for elaboration.
As a general rule unapproved mods may void the cars insurance if they were detected say post accident.
