Default Back seat removal JK unlimited

Has anyone permanently removed the back seat from their JK 4 door? If so, how difficult is it and what set up did you replace it with for storage etc?

Nope don't unclip from the floor. Some of the fasteners will seem extremely difficult to get undone. Make sure you have a lot of leverage. As to why, well if you have ever lifted the rear seats and felt the weight then that is one great answer. The second would be valuable storage area which would normally filled up with bulky seats that don't have any real purpose other than hogging valuable space. Another would be that it doesn't take passengers so if only taking two then why have five seats? Have had custom flat floor for awhile now, amazing when you have a nice flat floor what you can get in there and how much easier it is to pack and tie down. Plus I can even sleep in the back when I go fishing, bit tall so only just fit.
My rear seats sit in the shed under a cover and probable will never be put back into the Jeep again. You go for it Humdingerslammer, your Jeep mate and just like you can buy a thousand and one after market bits for it, you can also do a thousand and one personal modes that make it suit your purpose. Should have seen the look on folks faces when I first cut huge holes in my bonnet and installed stainless steel boat vents, you should see the heat that radiates out of them, seriously amazing!!
Cheers

They are pritty heavy the seats... just took myne out to gain more space for my desert trip coming up. They use thread locker with the bolts and a crap load of it as well... very hard to get undone. At the minute i haven't replaced the seats with anything... not taking any passengers on my next trip so wanted the extra space and ditched the weight at the same time.

Not sure if my seats are different but they don't fold even close to flat and there is a huge gap between the floor and the seat when it's folded which makes it a pain in the arse to slide stuff in and out.

A flat floor would be a sweet idea for longer trips. I'm planning on hitting up the cape next year so might give this a try.

yeah, i thought about removing the seats too for the same reason, but found in spite of the slight tilt when they're in, the fridge doesn't move, and i put mainly a big bin of food on the other side that doesn't move either. i have a couple of rechargeable batteries that wedge into that floor gap to prevent them sliding, and finally just left it as it was. but i guess if you had a use for the extra space where the floor dips to take the folded seat, it makes sense.
