Default NAG1 722.6 W5A580 master overhault HD rebuilt @180.000 km

job of the last weeks

old disks and plates very good after 180.000 km

old joints and gaskets etc some were on the limit

the old valve body, it was withit that I had problems at the base, I had replaced the torque converter solenoid but it was not conclusive, I preferred to change it entirely, I would rebuilt it later it needs a cleaning and a new conductive plate.

on candles with a 3T bottle lift
6 hours to drop
1 hour to open and clean
4 hours to rebuilt
7 hours to put it back and put it into service
and above all at least 10 hours on the net and with suppliers to order and deliver etc.
and more than 20 hours reading books and watching tutorials

the valve body has been replaced by a reconditioned one prepared by Sonnax from the USA
the connection plate comes from Germany
filters from france
the complete overhault master kit rebuilt heavy duty kit comes from Transtar USA (discs, counter discs, O-rings, gaskets etc.)
I sent my torque converter to Australia for reconditioning and preparation round trip 2 weeks with freight.
I added a stainless steel protection plate between the pump and the bell as recommended and added a drain screw on the oil pan.

8,1 litres of Liqui Moly 1200
home made tools

all alone

PS, for info on our CRD you need to take the HD kit with the 5.45" K2 kluch inner tooth mesure specification, I already did the job for you

this can help more than jeepers, this trans is a monster

Awesome work mate, no amount of brews and wondering could entice me to rip into that sucker, well, maybe pull it apart, but it sure as hell wouldn't make it back together.

Thumbs up

Hi.
Absolutely brilliant. I am very envious of your skills. To strip and rebuild an auto tranny is hell of an achievement.

Is this Tranny a German made 722.6 or a USA made Chryler unit? I think they made them in Indiana.

I think it is USA made because valve body is a little different with no markings and conductor plate does not have the same level gauge hole than mercedes as. They cal it NAG1 W5A580 instead of 722.6

this was the barcode on the trans
