Default WH, are they decent?

Hi Guys,

Looking into a WH, diesel model. I am coming from wj HO, which was very capable.

Are they reliable?

Are they capable off-road?

Long journeys?

Looking at trips like Simpson, and possibly Nullarbor

I have a 06 WH hemi, they are super comfy for long journeys, I haven't had a problem except a CV joint and front diff bushings, (normal thing to do).
The QD2 system is like having dual lockers works a treat, very capable cars, just youtube them and look for yourself.

Hi mate,

To get an idea of stock off-road capabilities watch this;

Reliability / common issues / maintenance etc. is covered fairly well by this
https://conflictedracer.wordpress.co...erokee-diesel/

For what it's worth I have a 2010 Limited. Have owned it since July last year. Had a 2016 Triton before this. I am very happy with the WH diesel. Plenty of power. Tows my >2 tonne boat with ease. Off road I have yet to put it through its paces besides a few rocky tracks and some beach work. Handled both of those nicely.

I changed the glow plugs when I bought it as it was a little slow to start. Easy job. Other than that I've just put diesel in it and serviced it. I had a WJ diesel about 7 years ago. Also a good car but the WH feels a lot quicker!

Are they reliable? Has been for me. Only let me down once when the front prop shaft CV failed, a double cardan shaft will sort that.

Are they capable off-road? Quadradrive II is! The most limiting factor is ground clearance. A 2" lift lets you fit 265/70/17 under the guards, 2.5 to 3" gets you 255/75/17"s (32"). You may be able to get 33's with a 3" lift but front CVs will be at there limits. A 4" Super Lift will set you back about $4k https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2005-200...53.m1438.l2649

Long journeys? Average holiday is 3 week's and 5000km's for me and I enjoy every moment I'm in the Jeep. I have only a 2" lift so I can't comment on the reliability or ride quality of a SuperLifted WH.

This is on-board my jeep with the Sydney Jeep Club https://youtu.be/OOzPfEjvvtk & https://youtu.be/T7-SVD1fSDM with only 31" road tyres.
