Default The Carefusion Alaris - new technology.

Wasn't sure whether to put this under the Off Topic or the Emergency Help section.
Anyhow, here I am having my next dose of chemo.
On arrival I was told how lucky I was because l was going to be the first to use the band new, state of the art, infusion pump.
So for the entire process up to now, as I am tapping this out as they work, I am surrounded by no less than three nurses and up to ten people constantly, including nurses (of course), product technicians and an array of medical advisors.
All good, I've got lots of company. But I have to listen to things like:
"Well that didnt work, let's try this".
"Let's see what happens if we plug this on here".
"No, you can't use that with this system. Disconect all that and start again".
"I'm never going to get the hang of this stuff".
And so it goes on.
Last time the process took 7 hours. The way things are going with this new "more efficient modern technology, I may not be out until tomorrow!

The first time I ever went abseiling with the military, I was standing with my back to the edge of a 30 - 40 ft drop whilst the instructor was teaching me how to tie the rope on the carabiner.

The only trouble was, because he was facing me couldn't get it right and after several tries and mumbling to himself things like, nope that's not right and a few words I can't write here, he slaps me on the back and says see you at the bottom and leaves me hanging there.

Not inspiring very much confidence in me.

Anyway, all the best and good luck with the treatment.

If it's any comfort you are doing everyone else a favour by being the Guinea pig.

I would have thought politeness would mean they would ask you if you wanted to test it.

Good luck

Thanks for your concerns guys, but there are plenty of people much worse off than me.
I was diagnosed with non Hodgkins Lymphoma 2 years ago and underwent extensive exploratory surgery etc. to ensure that that was all I had. Fortunatly, it was so I was monitored until recently until symptoms began to appear.
The condition was originally found by accident after a kidney stone (Bloody site more painful than I have now.) put me in hospital and a scan picked up abnormalities.
I now call it my lucky kidney stone.
Anyhow, both my GP and my specialist have told me, "If you have to have cancer, this is the one to have".
So don't worry about me, I'll soon be up and at em' again.
